Duwamish River Cleanup Coalition

Purpose

To represent the vision of the Duwamish Valley community residents, workers and business owners. Features on the map show ideas for the future of the valley following the cleanup of the Duwamish River Superfund Site.

Duwamish River Coalition members, Duwamish River Valley community, decision-makers, and the media

Production

A series of community forums was conducted, at which people drew their envisioned features on tracing paper. This information was digitized as ESRI shapefiles. The resulting map was organized around four types of features: community, economic, environmental and transportation. In addition to the composite map shown here, separate maps were made of each type of feature.

Distribution

Maps were printed on plotters in various locations, and the digital files were used by the media and in the final report that was produced for stakeholders.
